MYSTERY RANCH is dedicated to a professional workforce whose primary duties are the suppression and management of Wildland fires.

To honor this educational campaign, we're proud to introduce

The Backbone Scholarship

MYSTERY RANCH will donate $12,000 to the Backbone Scholarship Fund. Scholarships will start at $1,000 and will be determined annually based on available funds. These awards are open to former and current wildland firefighters and their partners who give their all during the fire season and beyond. Whether pursuing fire classes, medical training, or college education, these scholarships aim to help individuals grow professionally and personally.

Our mission is to educate and inform the public about what makes this profession so fulfilling and where its challenges lie. As part of this initiative, we have partnered with Wildfire International to manage submissions and administer the scholarships.

Scholarship recipients will be highlighted throughout the year on our social channels, with direct links to their essays.

Wildfire International's scholarship committee utilizes a rubric-based review of applicant essays to assess the strength of each applicant's personal story, clarity of goals, alignment with the wildfire community, and how clearly they articulate their intent, need, and potential community impact. Applicants are encouraged to share their journey with honesty and purpose, as compelling stories of growth and commitment are at the heart of how recipients are selected.

Special Edition Backbone Packs

As a nod to the wildland firefighters who form the backbone of wildland fire response, we've created a special edition collection featuring our top-selling everyday carry packs: the 3 WAY 18 EXPANDABLE BRIEFCASE and the BLITZ 30, built in “Wildfire Black.” This collection honors the grit, dedication, and sacrifice of those who wear our packs in service to the land.
